Your first defense against snow, ice, and winter temperatures is your tires. It’s never too late in the season to think about the condition and type of tires you have on your vehicle. If you don’t have tires equipped to handle winter road conditions it’s time to start looking.
If you your tires are not up to the task, F & L Tire and Service suggests a set of winter tires. Not only can this type of tire cut through powder to grip the road underneath, they stay more flexible in extreme temperatures for a better ride and better handling.
If you already have a set of winter tires, take them out of storage and check them thoroughly for damage. You can even bring them into our shop so we can air them up to the right pressure, check for balance, and get them ready to go on your vehicle.
Winter tires are not the only option you have, here are several other tire types that might be right for you.
All-Season - These tires are great for dry, wet or dusted snowy roads but are insufficient for the deep snow.
Light Truck Tires - In good condition, these tires are capable of all-season driving and have deep, open tread patterns that work well to dig through the snow to road surface below.
Sport and Performance Tires - These tires perform poorly even in light snow conditions and are useless on ice.
High-Performance Tires - These tires should never be used on frozen road surfaces. These are fair weather tires only.
Spending a little precautionary time on your tires can keep you safe on the road this winter. Come see us at F & L Tire and Service today. We can discuss your options, your budget, and your driving style. Conquer winter roads with confidence this winter, schedule your appointment today.
